He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from LindenwoodUniversity in St. Charles, Missouri. He has worked in various health care systems as a fieldparamedic, emergency department paramedic, and EMS instructor. For 12 years, Mr. Sanders servedas Training Specialist with the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Missouri Department ofHealth, where he oversaw EMT and paramedic training and licensure in St. Louis city and thesurrounding metropolitan areas.Kim D. McKenna,MEd, RN, CEN, EMT-P is the Director of Education for the St. Charles CountyAmbulance District and Adjunct Professor at Lindenwood University, located in the metropolitan St.Louis, Missouri area. There she is primary instructor for the paramedic program, program directorfor the district’s emergency medical technician programs, and leads a training staff that provideseducation for district paramedics and for firefighters and emergency personnel within St. CharlesCounty. Kim has been teaching in EMS for more than 25 years. She formerly worked as anemergency and intensive care nurse, and served as Chief Medical Officer for the Florissant ValleyFire Protection District for 6 years. Kim was the EMR Project Level Leader for the National EMSEducation Standards project and is currently a Board of Director for the National Association of EMSEducators.Lawrence M. Lewis, MD, FACEP, is Professor of Emergency Medicine in Medicine at WashingtonUniversity School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed hismedical school training at the University of Miami School of Medicine before attending a residencyat Washington University. Dr. Lewis is an active researcher in emergency medicine with more than 60publications and serves on several national and state emergency medicine committees.Gary Quick,MD, FACEP retired as Medical Director at Southwestern Medical Center, Lawton,Oklahoma in December, 2010. Previously he served as an Associate Professor and Chair of theDepartment of Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center inOklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Quick is a career emergency physician with 40 years in clinicalpractice, as well as extensive educational and research experience. He is widely published with morethan 100 articles and book chapters to his credit.
