RichardDyer continues to design, that is to say lay out themagazine editorial articles, as well as doing the samejob for Military Modelling magazine. Fortunately, he isan enthusiast of both hobbies, which means that heknows which pictures should be prominent and thosewhich should not, hence the positive commentsreceived about his work. From time to time, readers have asked if the printfont can be increased in size. Well, yes it can, butinevitably the volume of content would have to bereduced to fill the same number of pages. To increasepagination would mean a cover price increase to coverthe paper and printing costs and contributor expenses, all of which are a major proportion of the costsassociated with magazine production. We cannot justadd two or three pages to the magazine as in fact eightare printed together, so changes have to be inmultiples of that number. On balance therefore, I donot intend to change the font size, although we areexperimenting with alternative fonts that may bepreferred visually, without affecting the magazinecontent volume to any degree. This issue includes a Complimentary Free Full SizePlan drawn by James Pottinger for an Admiralty 90 footMotor Fishing Vessel. Jeremy Bull, a keen modelrestorer, has penned an article about saving andrebuilding a model vintage steam yacht and Terry Smallreturns to these pages with his review of the almostready to run Voith Schneider twin drive unit Velox tug.For the price of this model, you would be hard-put to getall the materials and running gear together, and then itwould still have to be built and painted. There are also all the usual regulars and a bit more,so I hope that as usual there is something for everyonein this issue.Paul Freshney - EditorModel Boats August 2013www.modelboats.co.uk5
